Def Jam Isn’t Showing Amerie the “Love” on the Web
Feel like Def Jam is not doing @itsmeAmerie right in the digital media space. I don’t know the ins and outs of an artist leaving a label, but the defunct site via Columbia Records is all that turns up in the search engine ranks on her. I know they bought her mailing list, but I’ve yet to receive anything. Her new album comes out November 3rd. Scary.
The only official site she has with new info on her forthcoming album is three pages deep into a search, and is a piece of shit template they use for every artist on their roster. It’s not optimized for SEO and probably has a bounce rate bigger than the beats on her last single. She has her own Twitter and she has a MySpace, but the latter sure as hell isn’t pulling its own weight.
People are hungry for her music. Her last two albums never got the love she deserves, and no one’s going to know she’s got something new (and of what I heard) hot coming next week.
Mariah Carey switched labels three times. So has Janet Jackson. Not to suggest that they’re on the same level, cause in terms of sales and star power Amerie isn’t in their league — who is? — but this CAN be done.
