Beyonce Is George Michael
Little known fact: I have no life. Beyoncé must have been as inspired as I was when I first saw George Michael’s music video for “Too Funky” back in 1990.
He was in the middle of giving Sony the finger, and refused to appear in his own music videos. So, beginning with “Freedom 90,” he cast all of his supermodel friends to strut around in them instead. (George actually does appear in “Too Funky” for about five seconds as a camera guy, but that’s besides the point.)
Anyway, for her new album I Am … Sasha Fierce, Sasha (a.k.a. Beyoncé) is rocking half the wardrobe from GM’s video in her promo pictures. No lie!
I give you Exhibit A, the motorcycle corset and Exhibit B, the metal hand glove.
Leave it to yours truly to remember this shit from nearly 19 years ago. …NINETEEN?! Excuse me while I kill myself.
By the way, fast forward to 2:55, and you will see a minz Tyra Banks. I always got to be her when we played “reenact the music video.” Shut up.
