Amerie’s New Album on New Label Faces iTunes Glitch

@itsmeAmerie is my favorite artist on the planet. I buy physical CDs for all of her albums, so I pre-ordered her latest (“In Love & War”) on Amazon. For shits and giggles, I checked to see how she was selling on iTunes.

Not charting.

Hmm. Homepage placement. Big tout on the R&B index. How is this possible?

Maybe because her (new) label didn’t give iTunes the correct XML file, and it’s only allowing you to buy two music videos and the digital booklet, and of course no one’s gonna buy that, cause it’s wrong. Her album’s not charting cause you can’t buy it.

Amerie herself thinks it’s iTunes goof, but maybe not …

I am a tool, so I contacted them about it:

Hi, my name is Marco. It’ll be just a moment while I review the comments you provided.
Marco: What seems to be the issue and what is the title of the item you are trying to purchase?
Me: Hi, Marco. I’m trying to purchase Amerie “In Love & War” - it’s touted on the iTunes Store homepage and the R&B index.
Me: It says the album costs $9.99, and has 16 items, but it only lists two.
Marco: Odd, me and college [sic] were just discussing this a few minutes ago (another customer had brought it to our attention)
Me: I’m wondering if it’s the XML the label supplied? (I’m a web producer.)
Marco: I’m sorry for the delay. I’ll be right with you.
Me: No problem.
Marco: Sorry for that delay. What I am doing is escalating this issue so that the label can get it replaced. Unfortunately, they do not advise us when it has been fixed so I would have to recommend checking at a later time.
